Why are you reading the obituary for a person who is still alive?
Great question. It was a writing assignment from 2009.
Why is this just surfacing now?
I thought you'd never ask.
Well, actually I had feeling that you would ask so that is why I wrote the above blog explaining it all.
Why am I hoping I'm not able to predict the future?
Oh, I don't know... maybe because the part about Santa Monica is slightly too accurate? YIKES!!

Obituary
Kendra Osburn, 39, passed away last Saturday in a fatal accident at the Santa Monica Dog Park. Her family was by her side for her last breaths after an oncoming car hit her. Kendra was doing what she had been doing for the last 20 years, helping dogs in need. A stray dog had wondered into the street, unaware, and Kendra jumped in front of the traffic to save it. The dog survived. Sadly Kendra did not.
Kendra was born on December 1, 1988 to Barbara and Chuck Osburn. Kendra had a wonderful upbringing in Pasadena, California and went on to go to college at the University of San Diego. In college Kendra became an active member of the USD community serving as a leader in University Ministry, Community Service Learning, and Orientation Board. She also excelled in her Communication classes leading her to get a Masters from Berkeley in Journalism and Media Studies. Right out of college the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia picked Kendra up and before long she was Editor in Chief of their “Body & Soul” division. From there she went on to get a PhD in Media Education in hopes becoming a professor. Unfortunately these dreams were cut short.
In her spare time Kendra was an animal rights activist helping stray dogs find loving homes, but what she truly loved to do was sew. In her junior year in college, Kendra used her love of sewing to start a nonprofit right out of her dorm room- A Dress to Address. When someone purchased a dress, all of the proceeds went to their choice of one of three charities- World Vision, The Humane Society of the United States or the Media Education Foundation. Her high school best friend Christine Prendergast now heads the organization.
In addition to saving dogs, sewing and editing, Kendra was a very dedicated mother. She is survived by her husband Brett, their two children, Paxton and Lion and eleven wonderful best friends. Kendra loved cooking with her husband, baking with her children and playing hostess with her friends. The family’s favorite thing to do was picnic in the park with their two dogs Thelonious (“T”) and Lewis (rescued from Mexico), and end the day with a dinner party. It was very fitting that Kendra’s last moments were spent in her favorite place with her favorite people.
A beachside memorial service will be held this coming Thursday.
Instead of flowers the family has asked for donations to any of the above foundations.

this is so weird - i was just thinking about mine the other day because ryan had to write an obituary for his grandmother. timing is so weird these days!
